Style Icons : Golden Globes

I know I am very late, but I obviously had to do this post! Two weeks ago on Sunday was the Golden Globes, and from watching the red carpet, my favorite part, I wanted to share with you all some of my favorite and least favorite outfits.

First off, Amy Adams. One of my favorite dresses on one of my favorite people. I love love loved this dress. This halter Valentino gown is jaw-droppingly gorgeous and looks perfect on Adams. My mom hates this because too much red, but personally I think it's stunning.

JULA ROBERTS WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?!?! Okay that's a little extreme, but this dress just gives me the giggles because it looks so silly. It's Dolce & Gabbana, but honestly it looks like something I could make in my basement.

On the other hand, her gorgeous niece Emma Roberts looks stunning in this off-the-shoulder Lanvin dress. This dress looks great on her body and I love the fit, Emma looks so glam.

Another one of my favorite Emma's, Emma Watson! I love the uniqueness of the trousers underneath the open back Dior dress.

If you haven't been on the internet since Sunday and haven't seen some of the hilarious recreations of Jennifer Lawrence's Dior dress, you are definitely missing out. I don't understand this dress, Jennifer couldn't have gotten any worse, well she could but really, this dress just is not cute. Don't get me wrong, Jennifer Lawrence is my absolute favorite actress besides Audrey Hepburn, but this dress is just too confusing.

I hope you liked this post, and with the Grammy's coming up, I am thinking of doing another one of these posts. Let me know in a comment or send me an email at fabricandfudge@gmail.com if you like these type of posts! I also have a Pinterest and Instagram @fabricandfudge!

Update: School

I know, it has been awhile since I have posted a blog, I am truly sorry to everyone. The stress of midterms, being sick, and the cold weather have led me to have no time to post. I know that these are all excuses and that everyone is this busy, but in order to be happy, I need to do myself a little task and actually study! I hope everyone understands and I will be right back to coming up with more creative posts soon. I leave you with this hilarious picture of a cat studying, maybe it will make you laugh as much as it made me!
If you have an questions or if you need anything, just shoot me an email at fabricandfudge@gmail.com, follow me on Pinterest, and Instagram @fabricandfudge.

Until next time,
Eliza

p.s. I have a post all about the Golden Globes outfits I wrote right after I watched the red carpet, and never got the chance to post. I will post that now, even though it's a little late!

Book Worm : Divergent Trilogy

Have you ever read a book that pulls you in and you actually believe you are a character in the book? A book so well written that you can feel what the characters are feeling? A book that you can't stop reading, like literally CANNOT stop? I have found a trilogy that has done exactly that to me. Now I have never been one to read sci-fi books, I'm more of a teen romance loser. On the contrary, the Hunger Games and Harry Potter are some of my favorite books by far, but teen romances are definitely the most fun to read. I recently, as in November, picked up the first book in the amazing trilogy by the young Veronica Roth, Divergent. I read it while on a six hour bus ride with my crew team, I repeat, I finished the whole 487 page book on a bus ride with a bunch of noisy girls. I popped my headphones in, blasting The Lumineers, and started to read. Started to read and could not stop. The book draws you in, beginning at the first page with the rather vague description of what's going on which makes you want to keep reading to get explanations. The book is about a dystopian society in the future. There are five factions, and each teen takes an aptitude test to see which faction is for them. At 16 they choose their faction which they must stay in for life. Once they choose, they go through initiation, and if they make it through, they can stay in that faction. Each faction represents a different quality that they must stay true to. Since this book has so much going on, each chapter a different drama, I don't want to give too much away. If you want more of a description, i'll link some websites below. But go get your butt out to Barnes and Noble or open up your Kindle, and purchase this trilogy! You won't regret it I promise! The best part about this book is that a new movie is coming out March 21st, 2014, and I definitely will be at the midnight premiere.

If you have any suggestions of books, please let me know, I'm looking for a good novel.

Crafty Corner : Mason Jar Candle

Pinterest.
It's what we all love and constantly find things to make, but never have the time, supplies, or money to actually create. Don't fret, I have found an easy, cheap way to make a jar look great anywhere in your home. The supplies are things easily found in your house, and it takes less than 30 minutes to create! And it is created with my favorite this ever, mason jars! I love love love mason jars, and any type of jar I can find. They are all so fun, and the many ways you can decorate and uses to get out of them are endless. So, I have come up, with a little help from Pinterest, a quick and cute decorative mason jar candle holder.

<-- My many jar decorations for my room!
Supplies Needed:
A mason jar, or any other type of jar you would like
Masking tape, I didn't have the thick tape so I just crisscrossed some masking tape to create a waffle type pattern. (see below)
A paintbrush
A votive or electric candle
Scissors
Paint (I used the house paint. It dried extremely fast and was very opaque. Any paint will do, but you may have to do a ton a coats)
A pencil or stick (use will be revealed later)

<-- waffle pattern made with masking tape

Use your scissors to cut from the masking tape, a shape or letter you want the candle to shine through on. I did hearts because I think they are really cute and simple, but anything can work.

Place the shapes you made with the masking tape wherever you want them on the jar. Make sure to press the tape down hard so paint doesn't get underneath the tape. The places where you place the masking tape will not get paint on them so when the candle is in the jar, you can see it shining through. Use your skills and place them in a fun way!

Paint the jar. I painted the bottom of my jar so it is set upside down in this picture. A few coats may be needed to make it matte, unless you want it otherwise. This is your jar, make it as you like! A cute idea could be painting it with many colors, but I liked this one color for my room. Make sure you let it dry before going on to the next part.

I painted this part of the jar top, but that is totally optional. Get creative with it! You can put sequins, glitter, etc., to make it more you.

Once your paint has dried, peel off the masking tape. Be careful on this step so you don't mess up the edges! After you take off the masking tape, there may be a little, or a lot of paint underneath. We aren't perfect so you may have painted some underneath, I know I did, but thats okay! This is where your pencil, chopstick, or anything of that sort comes in. I used a pencil to scratch off the paint, since it is glass it comes off easily.

This is the final product. Put the candle in and voila! Place it anywhere you want, I put this on a shelf in my room right next to my elephant piggy bank. This is a nice gift or just an easy decoration for your room!

All in all, this project took me about 25 minutes because my paint dried so fast. I absolutely love it and think it is a quick way to make your room feel all cozy.

All About Me

Hi Everyone!
I am so excited about the constant snow and winter weather up here! My favorite part of winter is definitely the fashion. Big cozy sweaters and leggings are my go to all season long. Since my lazy two weeks of break is coming to a close, I am so happy to get back into wearing real clothes on a daily basis(with the exception of the actual going to school part). My style differs everyday depending on how cold it is out or how I feel like dressing. Personally, the "preppy," timeless style is my favorite, but I only have so many sweaters to wear. I plan on posting a blog post at least once a week, but because of upcoming midterms, I can only wish that I will have the time. On this blog I have the intention to not just post fashion and style blogposts, but also DIYs, reviews on makeup, and any other ideas you guys have! I hope that you will keep reading my blog and get to know me better, but in the meantime, here are 6 facts about me.
1. I row crew. Many people believe that rowing is not a hard sport, but I can beg to differ. The friends I have made on my team and the crazy workouts are only two of the reasons why I love rowing.
2. I have my own cupcake business called Poseycakes that I started in seventh grade. Baking helps me relieve stress and satisfy my family's sweet cravings. My personal favorite and specialty are the ever so delicious red velvet!
3. I am extremely organized, to the point where I color code my agenda book and have to constantly find new ways to organize my makeup vanity. It's weird, I know, but it's so much fun for me.
4. Which leads me to my next fact. I love makeup. My friends call me a hoarder, but I use makeup as a way to let me be creative. Truthfully, I rarely ever wear makeup to school, and if I do it's usually just mascara. But having all the makeup for events and weekends is so fun!
5. I am one of those people who binges on Netflix. Currently, I am watching Grey's Anatomy and have hooked all my friends on it. Being a person who is usually sickened by the sight of blood, I have overcome my fear....mostly. Past obsessions have been One Tree Hill and Gossip Girl.
6. I am obsessed with Pinterest. I love pinning things because then I don't have to actually buy them. Well I may buy them... But that's besides the point. It has anything you have ever wanted and you have the ability to pin everything. I work hard to name my boards and pin the perfect things, it really is an obsession.

I hope you have learned a bit about me! If you have any ideas for blog posts or questions please email me at fabricandfudge@gmail.com

Until next time,
Eliza
